Our Principals:

Julian Totty Managing Director, Julian is an HSBC veteran whose 30-year career with one of the world’s leading banks spanned the Middle East, Asia, Europe and Latin America. He brings an in depth knowledge of financial affairs with a solid grounding in corporate and commercial banking.

Amongst Julian’s most recent positions were Director of HSBC Holdings Brazil S.A. and Head of Corporate Risk, Head of Credit and Risk HSBC Bank Argentina S.A. and ultimately as a Director/Treasurer and Head of Corporate and Commercial Banking HSBC Bank (Panama) S.A.

In Brazil Julian managed a company with 180 employees under a contract with the Brazilian Central Bank to recover $2.7 billion of commercial and retail debt, paging the most successful rebound in Brazil’s banking history. In Argentina, Julian guided HSBC through one of the toughest economic collapses in that countries history.

Gerry Dowden, Gerry, an expert in General Management, Administration and Business Development, he has held managerial positions in both the United Kingdom and Panama for the last thirty years, has been responsible for the setting up and operating of a number of Panamanian companies covering many business spheres.

Amongst positions held in the UK: H. Clarkson Ltd (Brokers) Dept Manager, Lambert Bros Ltd (Shipbrokers) Consultant, Forsythe UK Ltd (Dutch trading Co) Managing Director, Marine Oil Trading Ltd (Business Development). Founder member of the International Bunker Industry Association (IBIA) and head of the documentation committee.

Panama:General Manager in the following Panamanian companies: Marine Oil Trading S.A. (Fuel Trading). MOBCO Agencies S.A. (Ships Agents). Petroleum & Transport Services S.A. (Local trading and operating of road transportation), Transmarine Transportation and Barging S.A. (Ship owning and operating), Chemoil Latin America Inc (Fuel reception, storage, treatment and distribution).

Urs Hauenstein, Urs has experience in trade fair exhibition building and marketing,  working for major companies in Switzerland, Germany and France. In Panama Urs was managing Empresas Righetti S.A., working with the Panamanian Tourist Institute IPAT in charge of servicing major trade shows like Expo Comer and many others as well as trade fairs in the USA, Mexico, Guatemala, Colombia and Ecuador. Urs also has experience in the gastronomic sector coming from a Swiss family with a long history in the Hotel Business and as owner of a Restaurant in Panama. Urs is specializing  since 1997 in Internet marketing and consulting web based solutions for local and international companies.

Mick O'Hearn, A career which has spanned virtually all aspects of Contracting and Constructing, Mick who consults and works for Fenix on projects requiring construction project development has worked as Vice President for PassInter.Inc contracting and overseeing work for the US Government in Panama. Foreman for Bechtel Corp on special coatings at Turkey Point Nuclear Plant, Florida. President and Chief Estimator for O.I.C. Inc working on amongst other issues remodeling and construction, responsible for approximately 140 employees. Mick has also consulted on projects throughout the Americas including USA, Canada, Panama, Mexico, Chile, Costa Rica, Colombia, El Salvador and Nicaragua.

Associate Consultants:

Willy Diggelmann, is a well know Chef and owner of multiple Restaurants in Panama with a vast experience in the Gastronomic Sector and the Panama Tourist Industry, as well as the winner of the Wine Spectator Award of Excellence for many years and graduated from the Ecole hôtelière de Lausanne, Switzerland.

Ed Anchor, Ed has been resident in Panama for many years, an engineer by trade he has established a diverse and professional group of companies Anchor Group. Although principally inclined to the Maritime sector Ed will also be assisting Fenix in other construction and engineering projects. The Anchor Group is currently undertaking Dock and jetty work for the Panama Canal Authority which requires the highest of standards indicating the quality of their professionalism.

Beat Peterhans, an interior design expert is the General Manager of Righetti International Corporation a leading international designer, manufacturer and marketer of office systems and related office furniture products focuses on the contract (mid- to high- end) segment of the office furniture market in Latin America. Beat has been responsible for the design and project development of a number of well know global companies as Dell Panama, P&G, IBM, HP, Cisco Costa Rica, Citibank, Agilet, Lab. Abbott, Cisco Venezuela, P&G, IBM, Syngenta Mexico, collaborating with clients creates solutions that work. Beat has also experience in trade fair exhibition building and marketing representing the Swiss based company Syma System world wide know for trade fair solutions.

Edward Lum, Edward is able to offer Fenix experience in market research, marketing strategies, advertising and promotional campaigning. He also has worked in customer service training purchasing and inventory control, finance and accounting, as well as being an officially recognized translator. Among the positions Edward has held are Agnew Higgins Inc California, Industrial Engineer. General Motors Overseas in Panama, responsible for 60 GM dealers, implementing technical training, warranty and action programs, evaluations and after-market opportunities. Bavarian Motors (BMW), marketing strategies, advertising and promotional campaigns for BMW parts and accessories, Blaupunkt and Becker in car entertainment systems. General Manager Zentrum Auto Parts S.A, and PowerMax S.A.

Fritz Schmutte, Fritz will consult with FENIX in the areas of Promotion, Publishing and Advertising. As owner and General Manager of Deal Inc. he is responsible for publishing the magazine "Business Panama" (edited by the American Chamber of Commerce (AMCHAM)) and "ABC of Investing in Panama" the latter in part coming from his 25 years experience in the Banking Sector working in Switzerland, Germany, USA and Panama. Deal Inc. is producing maps for commercial entities such as Copa Airlines, Los Pueblos and Multicentro shopping centers and the Caesar Park Hotel, and will be working with us on artwork, ad design, product promotion and magazines to meet our clients requirements.

Jan Domburg, Jan is a specialist in product inspection on specifications, quality, quantity and packaging, logistics, freight forwarding and  warehousing.  Jan can be of assistance to you when ever you need to move cargo from one country to another or need assistance and consulting in any related matters. Jan is the proprietor of JD International Inc.

Manuel Alzamora, is the President of GFCE, S.A. (Grupo de Ferias, Congresos y Eventos, S.A.) a company specialized in production, organization and coordination of Fairs, Meetings, Conventions, Seminars, Forums, Trade Missions, Formal Dinners, Shows and Events. Its infrastructure is constituted by a group of executives with long experience and trajectory in the market, leading for many years the art of organization for the benefit of the executives interested in achieving a greater success in business.
